Braces Q & A

What are the benefits of braces?

When people think about getting braces, they tend to focus on the cosmetic benefits. And for sure, having straighter teeth can significantly improve the appearance of your smile, as well as improving your self-confidence. But having straight teeth can also improve your overall oral health by making it easier to keep your teeth clean so decay and disease are prevented. Braces help eliminate odd angles, gaps, and crevices where bacteria can hide. Plus, by straightening your teeth, you can prevent problems like temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ) and uneven tooth wear that can cause cavities and even tooth loss. Braces can even help “cure” a chronic grinding habit (called bruxism).

What are Fastbraces?

Fastbraces are a patented orthodontic treatment system that uses special technology to straighten teeth in a fraction of the time required by traditional braces -- in fact, many patients can complete treatment in as little as 120 days or about four months. By comparison, traditional braces usually require two years or more to complete treatment.

Fastbraces use a special L-shaped bracket design for added flexibility and targeted force that moves both the crown (visible portion) of the tooth and the root at the same time. With traditional braces, the crown shifts first, then the root, which means treatment takes much longer. Since Fastbraces moves the tooth root right from the beginning of treatment, your teeth adjust to their new positions more quickly so you can complete your treatment in far less time. Faster treatment times mean fewer office visits, saving you time and money.

What issues can be treated with Fastbraces?

Fastbraces treat a wide array of alignment problems, including:

  • Crowding
  • Overbites
  • Crossbites
  • Spacing issues like gaps between teeth
  • Open bites (where a gap exists between your upper and lower teeth when you close your mouth)
  • High, pronounced canines (the pointy teeth next to your front teeth)

Can adults be treated with Fastbraces, or are they just for children?

Fastbraces are used to treat alignment and crowding issues in adults, teens, and kids.

Am I a good candidate for Fastbraces?

Fastbraces are a great choice for many patients, but it’s not always the best option. To find out if the Fastbraces system is right for you, call the office or use our online system and schedule an evaluation today.
